New Website Helps Console Peasants See The 30 FPS vs 60 FPS Difference

Many gamers versed in the industry, its trends, and the many, many different platforms to play games on know that the PC is the bleeding edge of technology and therefore the one true gaming platform to rule them all.

We get it. You love your hardware so much you decided to let the techno-boner shine. You like more frames per second than less. You like higher resolution better than lower resolution output. You like 80 GB texture packs. Wow. You are admired and envied by all.

Still, some gamers are happy to play on their Xbox. Some gamers want a simple platform and one or two games a year, not 50 games in a $5 pack during the Steam Abe Lincoln's birthday sale. Some gamers don't understand the 30 versus 60 fps debate, much less why you have the opinion you do.

Let's take a pretty poor example of 30 and 60 frames per second and flip back and forth between them. Visit 30vs60fps.com (haha, that wasn't already taken?) and see for yourself.

The image above is taken from the site, random error message and all. Get yourself set up and follow these instructions.

  1. Stare at this spinning animation of a player in Counter-Strike's popular Dust map at 30 frames per second for as long as you can. Until you throw up.
  2. Switch to 60 frames per second and watch for as long as you can.
  3. Did you throw up again?
  4. Which did you like more?

Welcome to the club. Now you know what it's like to have an opinion about 30 frames per second and 60 frames per second. Xbone vs. PS4 freak out time. Which side are you on? Are you with the dominant, strong, GabeN Master Race? You should be.
