Call of Duty Modern Warfare II Beta

Modern Warfare 2 Beta PS5 120Hz Requires Workaround for Some Players

Those playing the Call of Duty Modern Warfare II beta on PS5 may be surprised that it’s not running at 120Hz for them. That would be surprising given that the latest Call of Duty games have received patches that upgrade the framerate to 120 FPS. In fact, Call of Duty: Warzone also operates at 120Hz. There’s also no option in the game settings that allow you to turn this on, so it might seem as though you’re out of luck. But there’s apparently an easy fix (or two) for this, and it just requires that you head into the PS5’s system settings.

How to play the PS5 CoD Modern Warfare II beta at 120Hz

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2

Much like Call of Duty: Warzone on PS5, you will need to head into the PS5’s console settings and turn on Performance Mode under the Saved Date and Game/App Settings menu. You’ll need to make sure that you have a monitor that supports 120Hz, and you’ll likely need to sacrifice a bit of resolution too. For Warzone, you have the option of either 1528p at 60 fps or 1080p at 120 fps.

Just to be clear, Performance Mode is not specific to Call of Duty games, but it does need to be toggled on to allow the PS5 to run at a higher frame rates above 60 fps. Otherwise, you can of course turn on Resolution Mode instead if you prefer to play the beta with the most detail, though we suspect most CoD players prefer framerate for more shot accuracy.

That said, if turning on Performance Mode still doesn’t work for you, another user on Reddit suggests that you may need to close the game and delete the save date from the console. Then make sure that Performance Mode is turned on before restarting the game.

In other news, the full Street Fighter 6 character roster has been revealed along with a World Tour trailer, and the Call of Duty Modern Warfare II Last Stand perk is only technically gone.
