Dangerous Driving 2 was announced back in 2020 and was supposed to be released at the end of 2021, but nothing has been heard of the game since. It seems like there’s a reason for that after developer Three Fields Entertainment took to the THQ Nordic showcase to reveal Dangerous Driving 2 was now called Wreckreation.

What we know about Wreckreation

Wreckreation

Wreckreation is an open world arcade racing experience that focuses on high-speed driving, racing, crashing, takedowns, stunts, and open-world exploration, as Dangerous Driving 2 was supposed to be. Set in a MixWorld, players can create, shape, and wreck the world as they see fit either on their own or with friends in split-screen in a collaborative experience. Three Fields Entertainment emphasizes players are in complete control of their own experience.

The MixWorld is built across an entire State that crosses four counties with a variety of landscapes, including woodlands, beaches, and snowy environments. This means there’s a racing playground of 400 km² which consists of 450km of road, although players can spend just as much time offroad if they choose. Players can design the MixWorld in free camera mode called Livemix and they can place jumps, loops, and obstacles wherever they please. On- and offroad tracks can also be placed throughout. There are even vacant lots made specifically for players to experiment with their designs. Once finished, players can then seamlessly switch back to racing.

There are new shortcuts and new challenges to discover throughout the world. Players will be able to set records in seven different categories, although only six were mentioned: Drift, Air, Near Miss, Stunt, Crash, and Time. With players in control of how they play, this means they can also customize cars, weather, time of day, race modes, challenges, and difficulty. One example of gameplay showed players competing for the best jump off a ramp.

Wreckreation does not have a release date but it will be coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC in the future.

In other news, Alone in the Dark will be a reimagining of the original game but with a brand new story. Elsewhere, Cult of the Lamb managed to reach 61,000 concurrent players on Steam at launch.
