Multiversus Combo

This MultiVersus Velma and Jake Combo Has Broken the Game

A broken MultiVersus combo that uses Velma and Jake in a 2v2 match has been found that ruins the game’s balance. The free-to-play crossover fighter that has dominated the genre ever since its open beta is still working out the kinks before the first season launches — one of these kinks is a potentially infinite combo that sees Scooby Doo’s Velma and Adventure Time’s Jake completely obliterate their opponents.

How the Velma and Jake MultiVersus combo works

As shown in the video posted above from YouTube user Sire2wavey, the janky combo between Velma and Jake has the pair summon a ridiculous stream of thought bubbles that are hard to evade. The projectiles continue to spew out from Jake’s form every time Velma hits him.

The combo starts with Velma’s Spread the Knowledge special that grants both her and her ally a boost to cooldown reduction. Usually, Velma has limited number of uses when using a word charge, but it isn’t used up if it hits a wall. And for some reason Jake the Dog’s “That’s Heavy, Dude” special tags him as a wall. The result is a combo that can potentially end matches as the opposing team rage-quits or gives up, like in the following clip:

Note, however, that the YouTube clip reveals that the combo can be stopped with luck and tenacity. Once interrupted, Velma and Jake are vulnerable, and the video shows that the opposing team was able to stop the pair from restarting the combo long enough to even up the score.

That said, this combo will likely be dealt with soon. The fix would probably involve Jake not triggering a “wall” state or make a special exception for Velma’s word charges if they hit Jake. In fact, the game’s director Tony Huynh has stated that “it should be fixed” in a tweet, so this combo should be patched soon. But until then, you might as well take the MultiVersus tier list for 2v2 with a huge grain of salt.

In other news, the leaked roster for MultiVersus has revealed 31 new characters, and here is when to expect the release date for MultiVersus ranked mode.
