GameRevolution is looking for an entertainment editor to lead our film, TV, and streaming coverage. One of the longest-running games media publishers in the industry, GR is expanding its increasingly popular entertainment content category, and we need someone passionate and driven to help us achieve that.
Our ideal candidate will be entrenched in the latest movies, TV, and streaming news, and will excel at producing stories that will command the attention of our readers. They will be up-to-date with the latest trends in the entertainment world and will be able to develop guides based on questions viewers are asking.
If there’s a huge new show on Netflix everyone is talking about, they will be tuning in from day one, covering everything viewers need to know about it. If there’s a breaking news story, they’ll dig in and get the details our audience is looking for. They’ll have an eye for a good story, know an interesting angle when they see one, and will be passionate about making GameRevolution’s entertainment category as big as it can possibly be.
Details, requirements, and responsibilities
Here are our requirements for the role and what your responsibilities will be as an entertainment editor:
- Details
- Location: Remote, freelance
- Pay: $3,000 per month
- Hours: The working hours for this role are flexible. Daily content production is required, and you will be required to be reactive to breaking news and present for new film/TV/streaming releases.
- Requirements:
- Deep knowledge of popular film, TV, and streaming shows. Your tastes should be in-line with GameRevolution’s audience — think Marvel, DC, Star Wars, and series like Stranger Things and The Boys rather than reality TV.
- Good knowledge of SEO. Understanding SEO best practices, how to employ them, and how to maximize the amount of traffic your articles receive is crucial.
- Published experience. This role is for someone who already has a good amount of experience when it comes to online publishing, preferably in a news- or guides-focused role where regular content creation and consistency are key.
- Responsibilities:
- Content production. The role typically requires the production of entertainment news and SEO-focused guides — roughly four 300-word posts per weekday. However, we also want you to be creative in this role and to lean on your own expertise — so if you feel that you’d excel in producing original features for us, we can certainly accommodate.
- Working with WordPress. You’ll publish all of your content to our site using our WordPress CMS.
- Assigning content. You will collaborate with our team to assign content to other entertainment writers.
