Call of Duty 2024: Black Ops Won’t Be Futuristic, Leaks Indicate

While it might be a long way out, that hasn’t stopped leakers from divulging details of Call of Duty 2024. Presumed to be Black Ops 6, based on the file names of the leaked images, this game would be developed by Treyarch, the team behind every Black Ops game far. With games in the series spanning the past, present, and future timelines, fans will no doubt be curious about where BO6 will be set. According to the latest leaks, it’s to take place in the 90s and so shouldn’t be futuristic or feature jetpacks/exo-suits.

Call of Duty 2024’s setting

Call of Duty 2024 is expected to be set in the 90s.

Having Black Ops 6 be a modern-era game would make it fit in nicely as a sequel to the events that took place in Black Ops Cold War.

The 90s setting was narrowed down by Reddit user “BloodCrazeHunter” who described how the jet in the pictures “seems to be the F-117 Nighthawk which was introduced in 1983.” Therefore a timespan from the late 80s to the early 90s would make sense.

Additionally, the Reddit thread compiling these leaks also notes how there’s “a string mentioning ‘mogadishu'” and how, “in 1993, there was a ‘Battle of Mogadishu’ that may be related.”

Update: The Twitter account that was the original source for the leaks has been suspended with all tweets removed. However, at the time of writing, the Reddit thread mentioned above continues to compile and host the leaks.

Is Call of Duty 2024 going to have jetpacks?

Call of Duty 2024 shouldn’t have jetpacks.

If the reports of it being set during the 90s are correct, Call of Duty 2024 should not have any futuristic technology like jetpacks and exo-suits.

Though Treyarch has certainly featured jetpacks in previous Black Ops games, the boosted jump and wall-running are not expected to make a return in Black Ops 6.

In other gaming news, Nintendo Switch 2 rumors have started back up after a new “NSW” trademark popped up in Europe. Ubisoft will soon be closing game servers for Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry. A Destiny FPS mobile game is rumored to be coming from Bungie and NetEase.
