Mediatonic has announced that its battle royale game Fall Guys is transitioning to a free-to-play model in June. At the same time, it will also launch on Nintendo Switch and Xbox consoles for the first time after a year-long delay.
Fall Guys Gets Crossplay And Cross-Progression On Switch And Xbox
According to the developer, Fall Guys will support crossplay and cross-progression when it launches on Nintendo Switch and Xbox consoles. This will be made possible thanks to Epic Games’ online service, which will allow users to transfer their progress across all platforms to ensure users have access to all of their unlocked content and stats. This will include the two new platforms as well as PS4, PS5, and PC.
Anyone who has bought Fall Guys or downloaded it prior to the change will get the Legacy Pack bundle, which includes a series of cosmetic items. Users will also get free access to an upcoming season pass as a thank you for supporting the game in its earlier days.
Fall Guys was originally due to launch on Nintendo Switch and Xbox consoles last summer but was delayed indefinitely. The studio confirmed at the time that this was so that they could add crossplay support. Before that, it was released on PS4 and PC as part of a deal with Sony.
The move to free-to-play will come as a new season launches for Fall Guys. The Free For All season will add a variety of new challenges and rewards to the game, along with a selection of additional events and stages. Players can also expect to find significant changes to the progression system as well as a brand new in-game currency called Show-Bucks. These will allow players to buy content and a season pass.
In other news, Elden Ring’s lifetime sales have beaten Call of Duty Vanguard, while PS1 and PSP games will get new gameplay features with the new PS Plus subscription.
