In somewhat of a surprise, a listing on BestBuy has revealed that The Batman 4K Blu-ray release date as well as the standard Blu-Ray release date will be May 24, 2022 in the US. The release date was originally unveiled as June 13, 2022, but this has been pushed forward.
When is The Batman 4K Blu-ray release date?
Several listings on Bestbuy for both The Batman 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray (which costs $34.99 and comes in a Steelbook with a free digital copy) and the regular The Batman Blu-ray version (which costs $24.99 but still comes with a free digital copy) confirm that the release date is May 24. In fact, the listing on Blu-ray.com also verifies this.
Last month, it was reported that the release date would be June 13, 2022 according to a listing on the British website Zavvi, which at the time of this writing still has the June 13 release date. It is unclear whether this means that the June 13 date is merely a placeholder or perhaps a release date specific to the UK and other European territories. As there are reports that Warner Bros. had confirmed the June 13 date, it’s uncertain what the context might be to the differing release dates.
In somewhat similar fashion, The Batman has also been pushed forward a day in its release on HBO Max. As announced via press release by WarnerMedia, the film will be available to stream on Monday, April 18 with it airing regularly on HBO on Saturday, April 23 at 8:00pm ET.
The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson as the titular hero, has finished its sixth weekend at the box office. Thus far, it has accumulated more than $735 million worldwide with $359 million coming from the US. Given that the reported budget for the movie was $200 million, this has been a huge success and it would not be surprising if a sequel will be announced.
In other news, Sonic The Hedgehog 2 had an impressive showing last week with the film grabbing the top spot in 13 countries.
