Morbius trailer 2 leaks reveal Spider-Man and Venom connections

A bunch of Morbius trailer 2 leaks have revealed the upcoming Sony/Marvel movie’s connection to the likes of Spider-Man: No Way Home and Venom: Let There Be Carnage, but also seems to tease even further than that. The Morbius Spider-Man movie Easter eggs actually seem to come from all the Spidey films, including Sam Raimi’s trilogy and The Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2, with direct references to Venom, Oscorp, Rhino, and even Black Cat.

Morbius Spider-Man and Venom connection revealed in trailer 2 leaks

Morbius Trailer 2 leaks

Morbius trailer 2 is supposed to drop later today, with a runtime of around 2:36, but half of that trailer has leaked online already and has revealed many references to the MCU, Venom movies, and every single Spider-Man movie — teasing a direct connection to December’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, which Morbius follows in January and also had parts of its new trailer leaked.

Being a Sony/Marvel production it’s unsurprising that the biggest references are to the studio’s own Venom movies — which suffered its own leaks in the form of its post-credits scene, which may be related to all this. Characters reference “the incident in San Francisco,” where Venom is set, and Michael Morbius (Jared Leto) actually pretends to be Venom in a pretty cringeworthy moment.

But it’s the Spider-Man references that are the most exciting. The previous trailer revealed that Spider-Man: Homecoming’s Vulture (Michael Keaton) would feature and graffiti tags Spider-Man as a murderer, referencing the ending of Far From Home that kicks off No Way Home’s events. However, the Spider-Man shown is actually Tobey Maguire’s in the style of a PS4 screenshot.

The new leaks also show Oscorp from The Amazing Spider-Man and a copy of the Daily Bugle directly references Rhino (Paul Giamatti in TASM2) and Black Cat/Felicity Hardy — who was sort of played by Felicity Jones in TASM2 but otherwise Black Cat hasn’t appeared in the movies, although she played a big part in Spider-Man PS4’s DLC expansions.
