iPad Mini 6 jelly scrolling fix

iPad Mini 6 scrolling issue makes browsing a burden

The new iPad Mini 6 (2021) is out now, and early adopters are discovering an issue with scrolling in portrait mode. Seemingly, the right and left sides of the screen refresh at different rates; this produces a distracting “jelly scroll” effect, whereby text appears to jiggle up or down the screen. The issue can make even basic browsing a problem, leaving owners desperate for an iPad Mini 6 jelly scrolling fix.

Is there an iPad Mini 6 jelly scrolling fix?

To fix the iPad Mini 6 jelly scrolling problem, users should switch to landscape mode when there’s a lot of on-screen text. The issue generally occurs in portrait mode, so simply switch to landscape orientation when reading on the new iPad Mini 2021 model.

The Verge’s Dieter Bohn was able to capture footage of the iPad Mini scrolling issue. After slowing the video down, the wavey effect is plain to see and incredibly distracting. Although it isn’t nearly as pronounced in real-time, it’s at least persistent enough for general users to realize that something is amiss.

It isn’t yet clear whether this is a hardware issue or something fixable in a future iPadOS software update. Unfortunately, it seems possible that the panel could always vertically refresh one side at a time while in portrait mode. If this is the case, the iPad Mini 6 jelly scroll issue could be here to stay. That said, Apple is now capable of fixing iPhone camera issues via iOS software updates. Since the California tech giant can use software to address physical hardware issues, seemingly anything is possible.

iPad Mini 6 isn’t the only new Apple device running into problems right now, though. A new Apple Watch update is causing a huge issue, while some iPhone 13 OLED displays feature an ugly yellow tint.

In other hardware news, it looks like Facebook is gearing up to reveal its brand-new Ocule Quest Pro VR headset.
