Mackenzie Crook Lake Easter egg

Mackenzie Crook Lake Easter egg pays homage to Detectorists

In Lake, players take a break from the hectic city life to spend two weeks delivering mail in the rural town of Providence Oaks. While there, it’s possible to run into none other than Mackenzie Crook (Pirate of the Caribbean, The Office). The Mackenzie Crook Lake Easter egg pays homage to the BBC comedy show Detectorists, in which the actor plays Andy Stone, a metal detecting enthusiast in search of hidden riches.

Lake: Who is the Andy The Detectorist voice actor?

Mackenzie Crook Lake Easter egg

Mackenzie Crook is the Andy The Detectorist voice actor in Lake. The character is a direct reference to Andy Stone from the popular comedy TV show Detectorists.

In addition to voicing the in-game metal detecting hobbyist, Andy’s character model is also based on Mackenzie Crook’s likeness. Impressively, this Easter egg has remained under wraps until now.

How to find Andy The Detectorist (Mackenzie Crook) in Lake

Lake Metal Detector achievement guide

Andy The Detectorist (Mackenzie Crook) wanders around Providence Oaks using his metal detector. Andy appears in different locations on different days; these can include the farm, the hotel, and offroad by the lumber yard. After spotting him, simply pull over the mail truck and approach Andy for a chat. That’s all there is to discovering the Mackenzie Crook Easter egg in Lake!

For completionists, this also doubles as a Lake Metal Detector achievement guide. Players unlock the achievement for finding and speaking to Andy just once, though it’s possible to locate the metal detecting club member multiple times. When speaking to Andy on a second occasion, Mackenzie Crook voices lines on his new metal detecting finds.

In other news, Marvel’s New Warriors show was apparently “too gay” to continue production. For more on Marvel, check out all of the Shang-Chi cameos and whether or not the latest episode of What If…? is worth a watch.
