Black Widow Taskmaster actor revealed in ending twist

The actor playing Taskmaster in the Black Widow movie is Olga Kurylenko, who is best known as Camille in the James Bond movie Quantum of Solace. The big twist in Black Widow is that Taskmaster isn’t Anthony Masters, as the villain is in the comics and the recent Marvel’s Avengers videogame, but the character has been gender-swapped. Taskmaster is actually Antonia Dreykov, the daughter of Ray Winstone’s villain Dreykov.

Dreykov is the commander and mastermind of the Red Room, the sinister facility that brainwashes and controls young women and turns them into Widow assassins, which both Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) and Yelena (Florence Pugh) manage to escape from. Natasha believed she’d killed Dreykov prior to her first MCU appearance in Iron Man 2 thanks to a bomb carried in by his daughter Antonia.

Now it turns out that not only did she not kill Dreykov, she merely horribly burned Antonia (worst bomb ever), and Dreykov turned his daughter into his personal Taskmaster assassin. It’s a shame that such a great actress as Olga Kurylenko is covered in either burn makeup or a suit of armor and never says anything, but that’s the big twist of Black Widow.

The other twists in the ending happen during the Black Widow post-credits scene, including teases for Hawkeye and maybe even Shang-Chi. You can check out the early reactions to Black Widow here, and the big question about whether it’s coming to HBO Max. In video games, Black Widow and Taskmaster have key roles in the Marvel’s Avengers roadmap for this year and beyond.
