Halo Infinite Loot Boxes

Halo Infinite’s Battle Pass is a cosmetic-only step up

In a deep-dive look at Halo Infinite multiplayer, it was confirmed that there would be no loot boxes or random drops in the new Halo game. What’s more, developer 343 Industries detailed the Battle Pass and events where players could earn unique cosmetic drops. Here’s the need-to-know info.

Halo Infinite loot boxes, Battle Pass, and microtransactions detailed

Halo Infinite loot boxes

No, there will be no Halo Infinite loot boxes. Instead, players will know exactly what they are buying with no random drops.

Halo Infinite Battle Pass

Halo Infinite will have a Battle Pass. However, Battle Passes will not expire, meaning players can always return to a previous Battle Pass to earn the rewards.

In addition to Battle Passes, there will also be “Event Amor Core” rewards, which appear to be tied to time-limited events. These are unique drops that players can earn through playing.

Halo Infinite microtransactions

Halo Infinite will have microtransactions. As a free-to-play game, it should be obvious that microtransactions will be needed to support the game at launch and during post-launch development.

The new Halo game will not allow players to buy Battle Pass rewards with real money. Players will need to go through the grind to unlock the tiers.

However, it’s expected that Halo Infinite will have its own in-game store where it will sell cosmetic items for real-world money. This would be similar to other AAA free-to-play games. Expect to see unique armor sets, A.I. cores, armor effects, armor coatings, and more featured in the store.

Exact details of an in-game store were avoided by the developers in the multiplayer overview. Expect to hear more about it closer to launch.

In other Halo news, the multiplayer portion of Infinite is going to be free-to-play, meaning anyone and everyone can play it on PC and Xbox consoles.

The fan-favorite character Cortana has been “deleted” and replaced with a new voice actress.

In other multiplayer shooter news, Battlefield 2042’s level destruction has been showcased in a new gameplay reveal trailer.
