Marvel’s Eternals villain teased in debut trailer as bigger than Thanos

The first teaser trailer for the eagerly-anticipated next Marvel Cinematic Universe movie has offered the first tease of the Marvel’s Eternals villain, or at least a tease of the villain’s power level, which promises to be more of a threat to Earth than even Thanos. The debut Marvel’s Eternals trailer has finally dropped, giving fans their first look at the next big MCU movie for 2021. But who’s the Eternals movie villain, and why should they be feared over previous MCU threats?

Who is the Marvel’s Eternals villain?

According to recent leaks, it seems likely the villain in Marvel’s Eternals will be Kro, the leader of the Deviants, the destructive counterparts to the Eternals who were created in the same way.

While neither Kro nor the Deviants are specifically named or shown in the Marvel’s Eternals teaser trailer, the ominous line “throughout the years we have never interfered, until now” strongly hints towards a threat so dire it forces the Eternals to finally show themselves and get involved with helping the people of Earth. Seeing as they were on Earth during the recent attack by Thanos that wiped out half the life in the universe, the trailer teases that this new villain is even more powerful.

While Marvel hasn’t officially named Kro as the main villain of the Eternals movie, leaks of the toyline by Instagram user dtapia22 shows Kro in a form wildly different from his devil-like appearance in the comics. The back of the box suggests that the Eternals have battled their evil counterparts, the Deviants, a lot over the centuries since they arrived on Earth, but Kro is more powerful than anything they’ve previously faced. It refers to him as “the harbinger for a global threat.”

There will undoubtedly be another Eternals trailer in the coming months that will properly introduce Kro and the Deviants, but for now fans will have to content themselves with the first teaser trailer. Marvel’s Eternals comes out in November.

Elsewhere in the world of Marvel, fans found themselves defending the upcoming Captain Marvel 2 after toxic trolls started attacking it. In gaming, rumors continue to persist that Mortal Kombat creators Netherrealm is working on a Marvel vs DC fighting game, which if true is a very exciting prospect.
