Rocket League Sideswipe How to Join Alpha

Rocket League Sideswipe alpha announced for iOS and Android

Today, Psyonix announced Rocket League Sideswipe, a new title that distills the fast-paced vehicular soccer gameplay into a mobile-friendly format. It’s not a direct port of the original Rocket League, but it plays similarly in concept with a simplified viewpoint and touch controls. Alongside the announcement, a limited-time alpha launched, and we’ll show you how to join the Rocket League Sideswipe alpha for Android below.

What is Rocket League Sideswipe?

We can see that Rocket League Sideswipe features the same general concept as the original title from the gameplay trailer. Players take control of vehicles and use them to push an oversized soccer ball across a field in an attempt to make goals. The big change here is that the action occurs on a 2D field of play, with cars locked to moving left or right on the screen and jumping.

The Sideswipe in the name refers to the method of control the game uses. Players can swipe left or right to control the direction of their vehicle. This makes playing with touch controls more manageable while still offering a facsimile of signature Rocket League gameplay.

Rocket League Sideswipe will be free-to=play and will feature car customization similar to that found in its predecessor. Psyonix is ramping up for a worldwide launch later this year, but for now, players in certain regions can join an alpha starting today.

How to join the Rocket League Sideswipe alpha on Android

Rocket League Sideswipe Alpha

The Rocket League Sideswipe alpha will launch today. For now, the alpha is limited to Android and is only available in Australia and New Zealand. Those who live in those territories can go to the Google Play Store and download it as normal.

Those who live outside of those two territories can either wait for the alpha to be released in their region or follow the convoluted process needed to access the New Zealand or Australia Google Play Store outside of their country. Those who choose that route can see our guide, which will be added shortly.
