Nintendo Direct announced for this week and it could be a Zelda-thon

A new Nintendo Direct has been announced for February 17, 2021, with the new presentation being scheduled in a surprise announcement from the company. The new Direct event will focus on information for games both new and old, though details regarding which games will be discussed are mostly under wraps for the time being.

What is the Nintendo Direct start time?

The February 2021 Nintendo Direct will take place tomorrow at 2 PM PT/5 PM ET/10 PM GMT in the US and UK.

Nintendo has revealed that it will last for roughly 50 minutes, and that it will use this time to focus in on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate news along with games coming to the Nintendo Switch in the first half of the year.

What games will be announced?

Nintendo has revealed that updates pertaining to Smash Bros. Ultimate will be revealed, though the Direct will also showcase “games coming to Nintendo Switch in the first half of 2021.” We’ve already seen the release of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, and not a huge number of big games are upcoming.

New Pokemon Snap, Bravely Default 2, and Monster Hunter Rise are all set for release, though the rest of Nintendo’s year is looking relatively quiet so far. Could this Direct be the one where Nintendo debuts a slew of new reveals for Switch owners in 2021?

It’s unlikely that the likes of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 will be shown here, given that its release date will probably fall outside of the first half of the year, but with Zelda’s 35th anniversary coming up, Nintendo could have something else up its sleeve.

Mario received his own 35th-anniversary collection in the form of Super Mario 3D All-Stars, so could Zelda receive the same? Many fans would appreciate a bundle including classics such as Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, and Wind Waker, so it at least seems possible that tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct could include such a bundle. We’ll have to wait and see if that will be the case.

In other Nintendo news, Pokemon Go developer Niantic recently revealed that it would collaborate with Post Malone. The original mix of the Super Mario World soundtrack was also unearthed.
