RTX 3080 graphics cards are like gold dust, though there is one legitimate way for avid PC gamers to get their hands on one. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 GPU is now in stock as a replica keycap. It weighs in at a fraction of the price, but unfortunately, won’t provide any performance boosts.
This RTX 3080 keycap is as close as it gets to the real thing right now
Ever since launching last September, Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3080 GPU has been almost impossible to get hold of. After selling out immediately, scalpers started listing them for up to an eye-watering $75,000 on eBay. The next-generation graphics card should be back in stock soon, but until then, this keycap is the closest anyone will get to implementing an RTX 3080 into their PC setup.
Manufactured by HolyOOPS and available now in the US, the custom RTX 3080 keycap is a wholly faithful replica. It replaces the standard Shift key and is compatible with Cherry MX switch keyboards. The mini RTX 3080 is not compatible with lower switches, topre switches, or Logitech Omron switches.
The real RTX 30 series all feature a different level of performance. The midrange 3080 has proven to be incredibly popular, no doubt thanks to its great range of specs and respectable RRP. Whichever card users opt for, the latest Nvidia GeForce line is helping to bring ray tracing to the mainstream.
At just $36, this tiny GeForce RTX 3080 keycap makes a great novelty stand-in for the time being. Maybe HolyOOPS will come out with a PS5 or Xbox Series X keycap next!
Regrettably, PC gamers aren’t alone in feeling the squeeze at the hands of scalers in 2021. Despite PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S restocks becoming more common, scalping groups are still managing to snap up a large number of units and flog them at an inflated price. Hopefully, it won’t be too long before players right across the spectrum can purchase the latest hardware without any headaches.
