According to Xbox, the Xbox Live Gold price is increasing to “reflect changes in regional marketplaces and to continue to invest in the Xbox community.”

In its official blog, the Xbox Live Gold Team details the price increases while also mentioning the benefits of upgrading a Gold account to a Game Pass Ultimate subscription.

Xbox Live Gold vs Game Pass Ultimate in 2021

Xbox Live Gold vs Game Pass Ultimate in 2021 is now a more difficult choice. The value of Gold is no longer as attractive as it used to be.

For someone looking at buying Xbox Live Gold (~$120) or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (~$150), the extra $30 for Gold and access to the Game Pass catalog, as well as other bonuses, may now seem well worth it.

The price increase of Gold certainly makes Game Pass Ultimate look more appealing.
