The Overwatch meta has been quiet in the recent months, given how the most recent update mostly just cycled in the annual winter event and the team is likely focusing more on Overwatch 2. But one new discovery has changed things slightly: the new Overwatch dance glitch. This weird bug hasn’t rebalanced the game at all yet it is still changing how some players are approaching this hero shooter.

How to perform the Overwatch dance glitch

To perform the Overwatch dance glitch, players need to queue into a mode that automatically picks the heroes. Arcade mode is a great way to do this and Mystery Heroes is the easiest mode to pick.

As the game tries to find a match, go over to the Hero Gallery at that main menu that shows all the cosmetics for each character. Now pick a character with a dance emote. The dance emotes are in the anniversary event loot boxes, but every character has one, including Echo. Any looping emote should work though.

Find the dancing or other looping emote in the emote options and go to equip it on the emote wheel. Pick a direction and spam the confirm button. Keep pressing it until the game finds a match. This may take a few minutes or seconds so be fast just in case.

Now once loaded in, wait a few seconds so everything loads in properly and go to the emote wheel (which is usually by holding down on the D-pad). Pick the direction on the wheel that was spammed in the previous step.

Picking that same slot should make the randomly chosen character do the dance emote from the character selected on the Hero Gallery screen. Dying will reset everything back to normal so be sure to avoid fire to keep this dance glitch going.

While this seems to work on a whole host of heroes, people seem to like picking some of the oddly sized ones as it makes for some bizarre scenarios. For example, given her peculiar shape, Orisa’s dance is quite popular as is Torbjörn’s, as he is quite short. It is unclear if Blizzard will patch this out, but entirely likely as it is a bug, after all.
