Minecraft PSVR update PS4 village

Minecraft PSVR support has finally arrived on PS4 (Update)

UPDATE: PlayStation has deleted its previous tweet stating that Minecraft would arrive on PSVR today. It has now confirmed that the update will be released tomorrow.

The Minecraft PSVR update has finally arrived, allowing gamers to play the beloved blocky sandbox game in virtual reality on the PS4.

Earlier this month, Mojang’s Roger Carpenter made the happy announcement that Minecraft would finally be coming to PSVR. Fans had hoped to jump into the game with virtual reality for quite some time and that has now become a reality.

Not much has changed for the game itself in practical terms. You can still move around the world with your DualShock 4 controller just as you could before. The major change, of course, is that you can now put on your PSVR headset and experience the game in a whole new way. Notably, this isn’t a standalone release — the Minecraft PSVR update adds virtual reality functionality to the existing PS4 version of the game, completely for free.

There is one downside, though — the update makes no mention of Move controller support. If you were hoping to swing around your arms as you dove into the depths, you might be out of luck.

Either way, it’s pretty cool of Mojang and Sony to launch this is a free update instead of a standalone title. You can buy Minecraft for PS4 right now for $19.99 or your regional equivalent.
