This represents a 23% price increase for PS5 games in the UK and a 25.5% increase for the rest of Europe. It’s also a significant increase compared to the pricing of PS4 games, where games routinely retail for around £40–£50 in the UK and €50–€60 in Europe.
Here’s how much the PS5 launch games will cost in the US, UK, and EU:
- Demon’s Souls – $69.99/£69.99/€79.99
- Destruction AllStars – S$69.99/£69.99/€79.99
- Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales – $49.99/£49.99/€59.99

Microsoft hasn’t revealed for the pricing for Xbox Series X and S games, so it could well mimic the cost of Sony’s PS5 games. However, Xbox owners can also take advantage of Xbox Game Pass, which provides them with all first-party games and plenty of third-party games for a monthly cost.
Given that the Xbox Series X and S are also available to purchase using Microsoft’s Xbox All Access program, which allows both consoles to paid off with interest-free monthly payments, Microsoft is positioning its next-gen console as the option for those being more careful with their cash.
Price increases were expected for next-gen games given the rising development costs of games, but some are disappointed that there isn’t parity between US game pricing and the cost of the same games in the UK and EU. For those looking to make the jump to the next-gen PlayStation console at launch, November 2020 is going to be a costly month.
