Ghost of Tsushima: Legends co-op multiplayer will be debuting later this fall, finally giving players some new challenges for Sucker Punch’s brilliant samurai game.
If you haven’t yet played Ghost of Tsushima, you’ve missed out on a great story about a man caught between the world of samurai and ninja. There’s a lot to do in Ghost of Tsushima, but it falls somewhat short on replayability once you’ve completed the game.
Now, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends co-op multiplayer will be debuting in the next few months. You won’t quite be exploring Tsushima with your friends, though — instead, you and 1–3 of your buddies will be rising up to confront a new challenge.
“Legends is an entirely new experience — it’s a separate mode that doesn’t follow Jin or the companions from his journey, but instead focuses on four warriors who have been built up as legends in stories told by the people of Tsushima,” said Sucker Punch Productions’ Senior Game Designer Darren Bridges in a PlayStation Blog post. “[Legends] is haunting and fantastical, with locations and enemies inspired by Japanese folk tales and mythology and an emphasis on cooperative combat and action.”
The two-player experience will provide a bunch of co-op Story missions that build on the combat of the core game. These story missions will escalate in difficulty as you progress while also delivering a thrilling narrative about legendary heroes from Tsushima.
The Ghost of Tsushima: Legends co-op multiplayer will be a little different with four people, though. You won’t quite get the same story-based experience; rather, you’ll be able to tackle wave-based survival missions. These won’t just be standard enemies from Ghost of Tsushima, either — these legendary battles will have you taking on “Oni” enemies with supernatural abilities.
It’s best to get in your practice early because even more is coming later on down the line. Shortly after the launch of Legends, a challenging four-player raid will arrive where you and your friends will be confronted with a “brutal, terrifying enemy.”
This might not be the Ghost of Tsushima multiplayer that we’ve been hoping for, but it’s great to see Sucker Punch Productions adding something more for players to do. You’ll be able to enjoy Ghost of Tsushima: Legends co-op multiplayer sometime in fall 2020. For now, you can get hyped for this new content in the teaser trailer below.
