Halo Infinite is likely to reveal its enemies as The Banished during tomorrow’s Xbox Games Showcase now that we’ve gotten our first look at the Halo Infinite box art. The box art seems much like that of other Halo games from the past, but it contains a special surprise that you’d only notice if you look very carefully — and we’ll sure to find out more at the upcoming Xbox 20/20 event.
The new box art was revealed in a tweet from the official Xbox account. It wasn’t long before people noticed a reflection in Master Chief’s visor, and it wasn’t long before Halo fans spotted a familiar face in the form of warmaster Atriox. This means that we’re likely to see The Banished in Halo Infinite.

Atriox, for the unaware, is a Brute who leads a faction known as The Banished. This group of ex-Covenant soldiers has continued to fight against mankind despite the fall of the Covenant Empire.
Aside from serving as the principal antagonist in the real-time strategy Halo Wars 2, a teaser premiered in late June 2020 on official Halo social media channels which likely featured Atriox speaking over a communications line. Here’s what the June 2020 Halo Infinite teaser said:
“The hour approaches. Forces occupy the ring, within hours it will be under our control. Humanity will burn. Their brazen defiance will be all but a memory. No more prophets, no more lies. We stand together, brothers to the end. We are his will. We are his legacy. We are the Banished.”
Between the audio teaser and this new box art reveal, it’s all but certain that we’ll be fighting against The Banished in Halo Infinite. You can find out for certain by tuning in to the Xbox Games Showcase on the company’s official social media channels on July 23, 2020, with a pre-show starting at 11:00 AM EDT and the main show kicking off at 12:00 PM EDT.
