We’re all trying to find ways to stay busy during quarantine, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has picked up a hobby of playing League of Legends. AOC‘s League of Legends rank has hit Silver 3 — certainly a cool accomplishment considering how notoriously unforgiving LoL‘s ranking system can be.
“My small quarantine accomplishment: made it to Silver III,” Ocasio-Cortez said on Twitter. “(For folks asking: on [League of Legends.])”

For those of you who may not be familiar with the game, League of Legends is a MOBA with a ranked competitive system. There are 38 ranks in total, split into 10 tiers of 4 ranks each (save for the lowest tier with “Unranked” and “Provisional”). Silver 3 is the 27th highest rank on the 7th tier according to the game’s fan wiki.
In her own words, AOC’s League of Legends rank was attained thanks to her Support play as Sona, but she plays Janna, Lux, and Morg, while also working her on her Lulu.
Reaction to the humble accomplishment has been mixed. Some people have argued that, considering the tumultuous state the US is in as a result of the pandemic, AOC should not be bragging about achievements in gaming in the meantime.
However, the politician’s followers will note that AOC has previously used her ties with the gaming world for charitable gains. Back in 2019, she appeared in a Twitch stream of Donkey Kong 64 held by Hbomberguy that raised over $340,000 for the trans charity Mermaids.
