Insurgency: Sandstorm PS5 Xbox Series X rated

Insurgency: Sandstorm PS5 and Xbox Series X editions confirmed by rating agency

It looks like an Insurgency: Sandstorm PS5  and Xbox Series X release are both on the way according to a game rating agency. This hardcore first-person shooter was already primed for a PC, PS4, and Xbox One release, and now we can be certain that it’s making its way to next-gen consoles, too.

The Insurgency: Sandstorm PS5 and Xbox Series X ratings appeared on Brazil’s Classificação Indicativa as reported by Gematsu. Searches for the title on the ESRB (US), PEGI (EU), CERO (Japan), and GRAC (Korea) have only shown a PC release or nothing at all.

According to the Brazilian rating, the Insurgency: Sandstorm PS5 and Xbox Series X release is rated “Not Recommended for Children Under 18 Years” — effectively the equivalent of the ESRB’s M rating. It’s unclear if this game would fall under a PEGI 16 or PEGI 18 rating. Additionally, the Brazilian rating notes that Insurgency: Sandstorm has “Improper Language” and “Extreme Violence,” neither of which is entirely out of place in a war game.

Insurgency: Sandstorm PS5 Xbox Series X next-gen desert

On the off chance you’re unfamiliar with Insurgency: Sandstorm, this is a brand-new entry in the Insurgency first-person shooter franchise. While there are plenty of military-themed FPS games out there, Insurgency is a cut above for emphasizing realism in its combat. In that sense, it’s only real competition is the ARMA franchise.

Insurgency: Sandstorm has already launched on PC, but the console editions of the game have not yet launched. A tweet from the developers in mid-June 2020 explained that they would not be able to meet their planned August 2020 release date.

“While development of the console versions has been on a good track, we will be unable to launch the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One versions of Insurgency: Sandstorm on August 25, 2020,” read the statement.

That same statement hinted at the possibility of an Insurgency: Sandstorm PS5 and Xbox Series X release, something that’s all but been confirmed now that Brazil has rated the game.

“This additional time will allow us to deliver a more complete and optimized version of the game, as well as explore the exciting possibilities of a next-gen console release in addition to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.”

There has not yet been an official announcement regarding the next-gen console versions or a new console release date for any edition.
