Streamer Byron “Reckful” Bernstein has reportedly passed away. The cause of death is currently unknown, although there have been reports of it being a suicide. Bernstein was 31 years old. (We reached out to the Austin Police Department, but have not heard back.)
Esports journalist Rod “Slasher” Breslau broke the news on Twitter after confirming with Bernstein’s roommate and ex-girlfriend. His ex-girlfriend, Blue, also tweeted about it, saying she “wish [she] could have helped [him].” Before that, she vaguely stated that someone she knew had died by suicide.
The news was met with an outpouring of support from fans and fellow people in the industry such as djWHEAT, Asmongold, and Sodapoppin. His Twitch channel is currently running reruns of his old streams.
RIP Byron. I just don't have any more words to convey how sad I am for Byron's family and the streaming community… this is devastating. https://t.co/L6vpSZwWno

Bernstein was most known for World of Warcraft, where he not only streamed the game but also play it competitively. He finished number one in six straight seasons of the popular MMORPG. And in 2017, he was named one of the richest streamers.
Byron u deserved better. Life is not fair. You were at times the best person to spend time with, u deserved…so much better than this. U were and always will be a legend in my life so in that way you'll never die. RIP.

Bernstein was pretty open about his struggles with mental health. He has even stated that his brother’s suicide had a big effect on his life.
