My Friend Pedro TV series Devolver Digital John Wick

Devolver Digital’s ‘My Friend Pedro’ is getting a TV show

Video games being turned into shows is the newest craze — just look at Netflix’s The Witcher or the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 anime — but a brand-new series is making a mystifying debut in the future. A My Friend Pedro TV series will adapt Deadtoast Entertainment and Devolver Digital’s action game to a half-hour dramedy — and the creator behind John Wick will be working on it.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, John Wick creator Derek Kolstad will serve as Writer and Executive Producer for this upcoming show. This new TV series will be a collaboration between Legendary Television, DJ2 Entertainment, and 87North Productions.

On the off chance you’re unfamiliar with the game My Friend Pedro, it’s a pretty straightforward story. A man goes through a violent, action-packed adventure because a sentient banana told him to do it. (Devolver Digital’s published games are wonderfully weird like that.)

Now, this strange game will serve as the basis for an R-rated, half-hour dramedy series. We don’t know which TV channel or streaming service will be hosting the My Friend Pedro TV Series, but I’d put good money on it being an entertaining watch. For now, you can buy My Friend Pedro on Steam for just $11.99, a 40% discount as part of the Steam Summer Sale 2020.
