Crash Bandicoot 4 will have multiplayer, according to PlayStation Store

Crash Bandicoot 4 will have multiplayer for 2–4 players, according to its listing on the PlayStation Store. After the recent Crash 4 reveal, the game was promptly listed on the PS Store with more details. This included a note that it would feature offline multiplayer.

Crash 4‘s reveal trailer didn’t include any references to a multiplayer component, but it seems that the PS Store has beaten Activision to the punch by stealthily announcing the mode.

The portion of the listing referencing Crash 4‘s multiplayer can be viewed below:

It’s unclear what this multiplayer component will entail. It could be that players will be able to take on the main game in multiplayer, a separate mode featuring levels specifically built for multiple players, or a new mode entirely.

The PlayStation Store listing doesn’t include any reference to online multiplayer, suggesting that Crash 4 will feature local multiplayer only, though online leaderboards will be present. Activision hasn’t confirmed that the game will feature multiplayer yet, though considering the game is set to release on October 2, 2020, we should expect an announcement in the near-future.

Crash 4 was revealed yesterday for the PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. PS5, PC, and Switch versions of the game have yet to be revealed. The game will be a retcon of sorts for the Crash Bandicoot story beyond Crash Bandicoot: Warped, providing a new direct sequel to third Crash game.

Vicarious Visions, the studio that handled the Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy, will not be developing Crash Bandicoot 4. Instead, Toys For Bob will be handling the sequel following its work on the Spyro Reignited Trilogy, while Vicarious Visions continues to handle the upcoming Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2.
