New XCOM game lets you play as aliens for the first time ever

new XCOM game has been announced and it’s got a wonderful surprise. For the first time ever, XCOM: Chimera Squad will let you play as aliens. Best of all, you won’t have to wait too long to play it — it’s arriving before the end of the month on Steam.

XCOM: Chimera Squad takes place 20 years after the conclusion of XCOM 2. A new society has emerged where humans, aliens, and hybrids living together in harmony… mostly. Not everyone is on board with the new normal, and it’s your job to protect this fragile new peace.

The announcement (via Gematsu) notes that there will be 11 distinct agents for your team, each of which will have their own unique personality. Classes can be tuned to fit your strategy, and the developers have aimed to really amp up the action with more intense missions.
