Animal Crossing balloons are disappearing and ruining Bunny Day – Report

There’s an important PSA for Animal Crossing: New Horizons players: Animal Crossing balloons are reportedly disappearing, ruining Bunny Day for some of the more enthusiastic gamers around the world.

According to a submission on the /r/AnimalCrossing subreddit, one player noticed a strange bug: balloons had entirely stopped spawning on his island. /u/stellery couldn’t quite figure out what happened until loading up an alternate profile, and that was the Eureka moment happened: it was all because of one achievement.

/u/stellery says as soon as the “It’s Raining Treasure” achievement was hit, balloons stopped arriving on the island. However, bringing in another character that didn’t have the achievement allowed them to spawn again. Based on this report, it seems that popping 300 total balloons may be causing them to stop spawning on your island forever.

The bug has been reported to Nintendo and several other players have said the same problem has happened to them. If this happens to you, you should contact Nintendo and let them know about it. As for getting your Animal Crossing balloons back, the only solution seems to be to temporarily bring in a seperate player who doesn’t have the achievement.
