An Animal Crossing: New Horizons review bomb is underway due to a variety of perceived problems. Animal Crossing: New Horizons players are upset with poor multiplayer gameplay, the one island per Nintendo Switch limit, and several other problems.
“Same-console multiplayer is severely limited,” read one such review on the game’s Metacritic page. “The game was designed so that only one person per family can actually get the full experience. Do NOT buy this game if you want to play with multiple people.”
ALSO: Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ multiplayer has some major downsides
“It’s immensely disappointing to purchase the game and learn that there is very little value for a family,” stated another negative review. “Whereas I can share my other games with my children, the fact that only one of us can make true progress in the game is a letdown and just another example of Nintendo being completely [tone-deaf] and out of touch.”
The issues with multiplayer gameplay aren’t the only cause behind this Animal Crossing: New Horizons review bomb — some players are also upset with the limit of one island per console, some of whom are calling Nintendo “greedy” for the limitation.
While the game enjoys a very respectable 91 Metascore (and a 92 Top Critic Average on OpenCritic), it’s User Score sits at 6.5. Not all of the reviews are negative, mind, as some users are fighting back, with some stating that they are unaffected by these issues as they’re playing solo.
