Exit the Gungeon Surprise Launch

Exit the Gungeon gets a surprise launch on PC and Switch today

Exit the Gungeon is releasing for PC and the Nintendo Switch today. The game will be a timed console exclusive on the Switch for the foreseeable future, but PS4 and Xbox One versions are on the table at some point.

Exit the Gungeon is the sequel to Enter the Gungeon, the hit indie title from Dodge Roll. This time around, players must attempt to escape the Gungeon via a series of elevators. Exploration is simplified from Enter the Gungeon by the elevator mechanic, but the action continues to be just as frantic, and you’ll have to stay on your toes to survive this bullet hell.

The game originally debuted on Apple Arcade last year, and its release on PC and Switch brings a ton of additions, tweaks, and updates with it. Those who played on iOS can look forward to new weapons, enemies, bosses, and items. The entire Gungeon has also been redesigned and contains new rooms and elevators, as well as added hats, Gungeon Dwellers, and minigames. Finally, the gameplay itself has received an overhaul and has been rebalanced to increase the challenge and allow for rewarding combos.

Steam and the eShop describe Exit the Gungeon as:

“Exit the Gungeon is a bullet hell dungeon climber immediately following the adventures of the misfit ‘Gungeoneers’ and their journey for personal absolution in Enter the Gungeon. The Gungeon has become a paradox and is collapsing! Armed with an ever-changing weapon, an insatiable need to loot, and the trusty dodge roll, each of our heroes must ascend and escape via their own unique route of increasingly perilous elevators. Battle against the last and most bitter of the Gundead at a frantic pace, slowing down just long enough to chat with some familiar faces… and a few new ones. Shifting rooms, enemies, bosses, bizarre weapons and items all combine to ensure that no two attempts to Exit the Gungeon are the same.

Also, you can wear hats. Everybody loves hats, and spin-offs, which this game is… of Enter the Gungeon.”

You can purchase Exit the Gungeon right now on Steam or the Nintendo eShop right now for $9.99.
