The upcoming Super Mario LEGO sets are looking pretty darn cool and there’s more to them than meets the eye. These aren’t your daddy’s LEGO, mind, as these cool new Super Mario toys are going to feature some cool new extras that represent the next generation of LEGO toys.
Billed as “neither a video game nor a traditional LEGO brick-based set,” these new toys featuring the Mushroom Kingdom’s greatest hero are going to be a lot more interactive. Mario himself will be battery-powered and feature digital screens that can change his mouth, eyes, and an emblem on his chest.

A video released on Nintendo’s Twitter shows them in motion. There will be moving parts that can bop enemies out of the way, and it looks like there’s going to be some kind of gameplay here as well. You can jump on various blocks and earn coins or even take damage, though we don’t yet know exactly how all of this will work.
These aren’t the only video game-themed LEGOs coming in the near future, as we’re probably getting some Untitled Goose Game LEGOs soon, too.
You can learn more about the Super Mario LEGO sets at the product’s official website. We don’t have a firm release date, but they’re expected to arrive sometime later this year. There’s no announcement of the price, either, but you can bet your sweet butt that it’ll probably be pricier than most other LEGO sets.
