Diablo anime and Overwatch animated series may be in the works

Rumors of a Diablo anime and an Overwatch animated series have been doing the rounds for at least a couple of years now, but, recently, those murmurings have become altogether more concrete. Activision president Nick van Dyk has updated his LinkedIn profile with information suggesting that the two shows could currently be in active production.

The experience section of van Dyk’s personal LinkedIn profile has been amended to reflect his role as “executive producer of Diablo, a TV adaptation of Blizzard Entertainment’s IP.” He continues to suggest that the show will be “rendered in anime style” and distributed globally via Netflix.

Information on the Overwatch TV project, however, is slightly less forthcoming. The Activision president has “developed and sold an animated series based Blizzard’s Overwatch franchise.” Who the show was sold to and how it will be distributed remains unclear at this point in time. Presumably, the Overwatch animated series would adopt a similar visual style to that seen in Blizzard’s established animated shorts.
