Total War: Rome II Debuts Strong On Steam, Still Can’t Topple Dota 2

This week's biggest PC release was easily Total War: Rome II from The Creative Assembly. The game walked a long road to release, but finally finding its place on the Steam storefront attracted a lot of attention this week.

The game has debuted in the second position of Valve's top 100 most-played games with a peak of 103,581 concurrent players on Thursday. While that's an impressive figure and one Sega can be happy with, it's still not enough to bring down Dota 2.

Valve's MOBA has carried the top spot for quite some time now, so we're left wondering how long it'll be until another game comes along to usurp the thrown and tear the attention of countless Steam users away from the game. Maybe Half-Life 3 would do the trick? Even just a trailer? C'mon, give us anything….

Rounding out  the list of this week's most-played games on Steam are Team Fortress 2, Football Manager 2013, and Counter Strike: Global Offensive. For more on Steam and PC gaming, check out our related tag pages.
