A new Borderlands 3 event kicks off this week with promises of more rare loot. It’s called Farming Frenzy, and as the name implies, it’s a way for players to increase their haul of Legendary items.

Slated to run for just two weeks, the Farming Frenzy Borderlands 3 event begins on January 16 and runs all the way through January 30. Aimed specifically at players trying to earn more Legendary loot from exotic enemies, Farming Frenzy promises to increase the drop rate of the game’s most powerful and sought-after loot.

Speaking in a press release, the Gearbox team specified that rare enemies are guaranteed to appear throughout the two-week event. The increased loot drop chances will affect bosses from the main campaign, the Circle of Slaughter and Proving Grounds arenas, and even Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite. Even better, the Anointment rate for dropped gear is also getting a temporary increase.

Players will be able to start earning more rare loot after downloading a hotfix that will release at 9:00 a.m. Pacific time tomorrow. It will end with a similar hotfix to be released at the event’s conclusion.

Here are details of the new Borderlands 3 event as provided via press release:

  • Rare spawns are guaranteed to appear
  • All enemies with dedicated loot pools (e.g. rare spawns, named bosses, etc.) have a higher chance of dropping Legendary gear from their dedicated loot pool
    • Additionally, the Anointment rate for that gear has been increased
  • Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite’s difficulty will now scale to match the size of the player party rather than defaulting to four-player difficulty (available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One only)

This “mini-event” is only going to run for a limited time, so if you’ve been yearning for more extra-rare loot, now is your chance. The Borderlands 3 Farming Frenzy event kicks off tomorrow, January 16, and will reach its conclusion on January 30. After that, all loot drops and enemy encounter chances will return back to the base rate.
