PS5 logo reactions are exactly what you’d expect

The PS5 logo has been revealed, with Sony debuting the logo for the upcoming PlayStation 5. Debuted by Sony at CES 2020, the reaction to the design has been mixed, with many feeling that it’s too similar to the PS4’s logo.

Putting the logos side-by-side, it’s clear that Sony has adopted the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach. It’s essentially the same as the PS4 logo, albeit with the ‘4’ switched around for a ‘5.’

Following Sony’s big reveal, PS5 began trending on Twitter with many quick to criticize the logo’s design:

However, as many have pointed out, Sony hasn’t exactly been known to significantly change its PlayStation logos between generations. The PS2, PS3, PS4, and PS5 logos are all incredibly similar, with Sony using a similar format for the past twenty years:

Regardless of the internet’s thoughts on the PS5 logo, it won’t matter much when it comes to the actual release of the console. Sony has still yet to reveal the system, though we know that it will launch within the Holiday 2020 release window.
