Switch Pro

Switch Pro is ‘no doubt’ launching in 2020, says analyst

It seems like since the Nintendo Switch launched, we’ve heard rumors of a “Pro” model floating about. For the platform’s first two years, Nintendo seemed content with its original form factor. However, with the release of the Switch Lite, it looks like the company is willing to diversify its hardware options.

Dr. Serkan Toto, an analyst with Kantan Games, is convinced that the Switch Pro will see the light in 2020. According to his comments in an article from Gamesindustry.biz, Toto has “no doubt” that Nintendo will debut a Switch Pro model in the coming year.

Furthermore, he goes on to predict that it will have the following features:

  • 4K support
  • Support for bigger cartridges
  • More powerful hardware

Toto believes the Switch Pro will come out just after the summer holidays for $399 as an early counter to the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Toto predicted that both the Switch Pro and Switch Lite would debut in 2019, so he’s got a 50% success rate. Only time will tell if we’ll see a Switch Pro, but given how many rumors we’ve heard about the device, I’d be amazed if one didn’t come out at some point.
