This has been an excellent year for mods, especially if you’re a Star Wars fan. The ModDB player’s choice poll results are in, and five of the top ten mods are Star Wars-related. Surprisingly, four of those five are for just one game, Star Wars: Empire at War.
The number one mod of 2019, according to the community at ModDB, is Star Wars Empire at War Remake: Galactic Civil War. This excellent mod doesn’t just add new units and enhanced visuals, it completely revamps almost every system in the game. The result is that Empire at War is a much deeper game with more tactical decision making required by the player. I checked this mod out over the break, and it really breathes new life into the game.

The Ultimate Apocalypse Mod for Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War takes second place, and is a must-play for fans of the series. This mod adds a ton of units, buildings, and abilities, and allows Warhammer 40K fans to play out their dream battles. Plus, it even has Titans.
Taking third is Empire at War Expanded: Thrawn’s Revenge: Imperial Civil War. While the Empire at War Remake mod seeks to deepen the gameplay that’s already in the base game, Thrawn’s Revenge is expanding the game into a full 4X experience. There are a ton of new factions to be found in this mod, and future releases will bring new gameplay systems like vassal factions.
A bunch of great mods make up the rest of the list and each of these are worth checking out:
