Zombie Army Trilogy Switch version announced, coming in 2020

The Nintendo Switch ports seem to never stop coming and now Rebellion is ensuring that that pattern continues in 2020 with the newly announced Zombie Army Trilogy Switch port. This trio of zombie-killing, co-op-focused games are being ported to the portable Nintendo platform with some platform-specific features sometime in the first half of 2020. An exact date has not yet been determined.

In addition to having all of the same content from the original 2015 PC, PS4, and Xbox One release, it will also have some exclusive Switch features that better fit that system. The game will now support local wireless play for up to four players, motion controls (likely for aiming), and support for HD Rumble and the Pro Controller. It is unlikely that the zombies be dressed in Mario, Peach, or Samus costumes, but there’s always hope.

Zombie Army Trilogy itself is some sort of weird port as it was originally compiled from two standalone DLC packs for Sniper Elite V2 along with an original Zombie Army game. They were combined and sold as one title divorced from its Sniper Elite roots. Zombie Army Trilogy originally released to middling to average reviews as it didn’t innovate much but provided a repeatable, mindlessly enjoyable cooperative shooter for those looking for such a thing.

This isn’t the only Zombie Army game coming out next year as the sequel, Zombie Army 4: Dead War, is set to release on February 4 on PC (via the Epic Games Store), Xbox One, and PS4. No Switch version has been announced for that game but it wouldn’t be outlandish for it to eventually shamble over to that platform later down the line. Rebellion eventually put out Sniper Elite V2 and Sniper Elite 3 on the Switch, after all, but has not yet ported 2017’s Sniper Elite 4.
