Pokemon Sword and Shield carry Nintendo Switch to best sales week ever

The Nintendo Switch had its best sales week to date over the Thanksgiving holiday. Between November 24 and November 30, the Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite sold 830,000 in the United States alone according to a report by Business Wire.

Nick Chavez, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Nintendo of America, attests the Switch’s success to its wide appeal. “Holiday shoppers see the value of Nintendo Switch, which offers a vast library of games for every type of player. Whether shopping for the ideal gift or picking one up for yourself, the Nintendo Switch family of systems provides options that fit every play style,” Chavez remarked.

Part of Nintendo’s success last week also comes from the recent release of Pokemon Sword and Shield. Since their release on November 15, they’ve sold 3 million copies in the US.

Thanks to a record week, total Nintendo Switch sales now total 17.5 million units. While Nintendo hasn’t quite caught up with the Wii’s 30 million lifetime sales yet, the Switch is on course to be the best-selling Nintendo console of all time if it keeps this momentum up.
