If you’re curious about the Cyberpunk 2077 game length, you may soon be both disappointed and elated at the same time. According to one Redditor, Cyberpunk 2077 may very well be shorter than CD Projekt RED’s other smash hit The Witcher 3, but it also might be more replayable.
As highlighted by Video Games Chronicle, a submission on the /r/cyberpunkgame subreddit contains a user’s account of his attendance of a CD Projekt Red community meeting for Polish players. Many details were addressed about the game, one of which is the Cyberpunk 2077 game length.

“[In] terms of length, [the] main story of the Cyberpunk 2077 might be a little shorter [than] in The Witcher 3, but will make up for it with much higher replayability,” the relevant section of /u/shavod’s submission stated. “However[,] at the same time they still didn’t [measure] the length of the entire game with all the encounters and smaller quests accounted for, only the main story and major sidequests[.]”
This is expanded upon further on when /u/shavod addresses sidequests.
“The Witcher 3 quest structure was compared to a single line, with a bunch of branches sticking out of it, which sometimes go back to that single line,” he continued. “In Cyberpunk 2077[,] those branches grow more branches, which then often tie around each other. That means (if I understood Paweł’s explanation correctly) that sidequests that we decide to do will often evolve into more sidequests and those quests will have an impact on other quests, as well as the main storyline, to a much greater extent then they did in The Witcher 3. Thanks to all those branches it will be hard to find one playthrough, which will be exactly the same[.]”
So, in short, it seems like the “core” Cyberpunk 2077 game length may well be shorter than The Witcher 3 if this report is accurate. However, the somewhat more dynamic nature of side quests could actually result in an overall longer experience as compared to The Witcher 3.
Will Cyberpunk 2077 be shorter or longer than The Witcher 3? If this is the honest truth (and nothing changes between now and next year’s launch), the answer to both questions might technically be “yes”. We’ll be able to find out for ourselves when Cyberpunk 2077 launches on April 16, 2020.
