Shenmue 3 has debuted at number 17 in the UK sales charts, missing out on the top 10 by a considerable margin while Call of Duty: Modern Warfare regained the top spot. Pokemon Sword and Shield fell from their position atop the charts, with Pokemon Sword sales declining by 58% and Pokemon Shield sales declining by 65%.
Shenmue 3 failed to set the sales charts ablaze, with its sales half of what was achieved by the Shenmue and Shenmue 2 remaster collection that released last year (via GamesIndustry.biz). However, as Shenmue 3 was a hugely successful Kickstarter project, the copies sent out to its 69,000 backers may have greatly contributed to its poor performance.

Shenmue 3 was also a PS4 console exclusive, with it not releasing on the Xbox One or the Nintendo Switch. It released on PC, though most PC sales will have been made digitally.
Football Manager 2020 debuted a spot below Shenmue 3 at number 18, though most sales of the PC simulation games are digital downloads. The UKIE/GfK Top Ten only take into account boxed sales, thus resulting in the sequel’s low placement.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order had an impressive second week, moving down into the number 2 spot with sales down by 47%. Given EA’s track record with the Star Wars license, this is good news for this new IP, proving that there is an audience for a single-player experience rather than the multiplayer-focused Star Wars games EA has focused on thus far.
