The Just Dance series has been a consistent franchise for Ubisoft for a whole decade. As assuredly as the sun rises in the east, a new Just Dance game is always just around the corner every year. In addition to being an annual franchise, the Just Dance series is the only game to have Wii releases over the past couple of years. In fact, the last three releases on the Nintendo Wii have been Just Dance titles. But this year, the Just Dance 2020 Wii version might be the last new game to hit the system.
Talking to GameIndustry.biz, a Ubisoft spokesperson said, “We would like to clarify that Just Dance 2020 will be the last Ubisoft title to release on Wii. We can’t speak on behalf of other publishers or for Nintendo.”

It may come as a surprise to some that developers are still making games for the Wii, but in past years, the Just Dance franchise has been a popular one for the popular Nintendo console. In fact, Just Dance 2 sold over 5 million copies. However, it seems that the time has come for Ubisoft to move on from the Wii, and turn its focus towards PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and next generation releases.
With the announcement that Just Dance 2020 will be the final Ubisoft Wii game, does this mean that it will also be the last game release for the Wii in general? While consoles have gotten releases long after their time, it seems likely that Just Dance 2020 being the last game to be released on the Wii.
A quick look at the recent Wii releases will show that the last three games released on Nintendo’s Wii were Just Dance 2018, 2019, and 2020. In fact, a non-Ubisoft game hasn’t been released on the Wii since October 20, 2017 (Let’s Sing 2018).
