Dr Disrespect reveals his Modern Warfare 2v2 map design

While Dr Disrespect isn’t a level designer anymore, he didn’t entirely sever his ties with the gaming development industry, as his Modern Warfare 2v2 map design shows.

Always a contentious figure, Dr Disrespect never shies away from a discussion and from voicing his opinions. But this time, he actually rolled up his sleeves and created a map inspired by the upcoming Infinity Ward-developed shooter using the tools available in Black Ops 3.

Dr Disrespect’s Modern Warfare 2v2 map design is described by the Doc himself as “a subtle blend of violence with speed.” He even recorded a video potentially showing how it would play in case it was to be turned into a fully-fledged map for Modern Warfare or another upcoming CoD game.

The lack of textures and blocky style aren’t random: This is a small map created with the Blocktober event in mind, where many level designers share their early map designs, allowing for some interesting comparisons with the final result. The fan reactions to the map range from extremely enthusiastic to “halfway decent, you know you could do better.”

Alex Graner, a level designer at Respawn Entertainment, shared his early design for Apex Legends’ map Octane’s Gauntlet I; Brian Baker of Infinity Ward revealed his early work on Gun Runner, a Modern Warfare map that players got to try during the beta; Spoopy Shaw from EA also gave us an insight into Daisy Drive, his first map for the upcoming shooter PvZ: Battle for Neighborville.

Level design isn’t a newfound talent for Guy “Dr Disrespect” Beahm. In fact, it comes off as a natural thing, as he was a level designer for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, working on maps such as Solar, Horizon, Instinct, and more. In 2015, he retired from Sledgehammer Games and returned to his online Twitch personality, Dr Disrespect, with recognized success and controversy. Judging by this brief stint in level design, who knows if a return to the development industry isn’t in store.
