Tomb Raider Debut CGI Trailer Released To Build E3 Hype

I'll be honest. I'm not the biggest Tomb Raider fan. I played the first one on the original PlayStation all those years ago, I thought it was "meh", and I never looked back. OK, well I lied. I did at least try that nude code that turned out to be fake.

Since then the series turned into a mainstream phenomenon. Not because of the game itself, but rather due to the main character, Lara Croft, and her polygonal "curves". The franchise's fame peaked when Angelina Jolie took the lead role of Croft in the Tomb Raider feature film, and the series stagnated after that.

The female sex symbol in games is a bit played out, especially for Tomb Raider. Developer Crystal Dynamics realized this and decided to show off a different side of Lara Croft. A more vulnerable side. That's not to say she isn't stunningly beautiful in this new Tomb Raider, but she's not this untouchable femme fatale that can kick ass and survive against all odds, all without breaking a sweat or messing up her hair and makeup.

This new "Turning Point" debut trailer is all CG–no real gameplay or anything like it–but that doesn't detract at all from how simply gorgeous the game is. Check out the more human side of Lara Croft, in the first ever Tomb Raider trailer. After you watch it, I think you'll agree with me that this is one of the few to watch during E3.
