WWE Superstar Randy Orton caught using a racial slur on a gaming stream

WWE Superstar Randy Orton is known for dropping his finishing more, the RKO, out of nowhere. However, during a recent video game stream, the former champion dropped something a bit more unfortunate out of nowhere. Orton was caught using a racial slur while streaming Call of Duty on his Twitch channel.

The video of the stream has since been deleted from Twitch due to the language. However, a clip of the moment was shared on Twitter by a poster named Teridax. Here, Orton can be heard saying “bam n****” in an exaggerated fashion before seemingly catching himself, and getting progressively quieter as the stream progresses.

Some folks on Twitter have been quick to defend Orton, saying that he was either drunk, or that he just had a slip of the tongue during the game. Others however, have called on WWE upper management to take action against Orton. The WWE itself however has yet to issue a statement acknowledging the issue, let alone confirm whether or not Orton will receive any punishment for it.

The WWE faced similar issues with one its talent’s supposed racism late last year. Back in October of 2018, racist posts made by Lars Sullivan on a bodybuilding forum were brought to light. Sullivan later apologized for the posts last May, and as such has not been punished by the company.

Whether or not Orton will be given the same lenient treatment by the WWE is unknown. Being a bigger star than Sullivan, who had only been called up from developmental brand NXT back in November, could possibly protect Orton from any sort of punishment even if he doesn’t issue an apology. At the same time, his superstar status could also result in actual repercussions against Orton since he’s a much more well known talent, and any issues with him could be seen as damaging to the company.
