Want to do a Leon Kennedy cosplay? Well, a lot of the hard work has already been done now that a Resident Evil 2 Remake vest has been revealed. This replica RPD vest looks astonishingly similar to the real thing, which is probably because the designers used the game’s 3D models as a reference. Created by Japanese company Blowback, this vest will get you prepped for the zombie apocalypse in style.
This special, limited-edition (and officially-licensed) item has been created with Capcom’s blessing, making use of the in-game models to get every detail exactly right. The interior is 100% polyester, while the outer portion of the vest is 100% cotton. Also included are two R.P.D. patches for the vest, an R.P.D. badge, and a board “autographed” by Leon Kennedy that you can hang up on your wall.

Here’s what the actual Resident Evil 2 Remake vest looks like from all sides:
While it’d certainly make a great accent for cosplay, the creators also say that it would do a pretty decent job of cushioning your torso if you decided to use it for airsoft play. A casual examination of the pictures shows that it certainly looks thick enough to protect you from the plastic pellets that you’ll be pelted with in an intense airsoft fight.
However, it’s important to note that this Resident Evil 2 Remake vest does not appear to have inserts for actual armor plates. One might be able to cut the vest open or add a pocket, but suffice it to say, it would be a very silly idea to try to use this as an actual bulletproof vest or flak jacket in any way. It has neither been designed, tested, nor rated for this purpose and you absolutely should not try it.
If you’d like to get one of these vests for yourself, it’ll cost you at least ¥315,000/≈$297/≈£244/€269 or your regional equivalent, not including tax and shipping. You can find a list of authorized dealers on the product’s official website.
