Back in June 2011, Ken Levine of Irrational Games announced that they would bring an original BioShock game to the Vita. Not much has been heard about this project since, and it sounds like development for it hasn't even started.
In fact, the last that Levine has said anything about game was this past February, and that wasn't very hopeful: "I’ve got my fingers crossed that that’s going to happen because it’s something I want to do, but until somebody starts signing the checks, there’s nothing I can do.”
Friday evening, Levine mentioned the status of the project once again via Twitter: "I talked to both Sony and 2k about it yesterday. Trying to make a match."
Not long after Levine tweeted this, Shahid Ahmad, SCEE's Senior Business Development Manager, asked Levine over Twitter to contact him. It's a little crazy that it takes a Twitter conversation to spark a potential business conversation with two individuals who should know how to talk to one another in the first place. At the same time, perhaps this is a new step toward greenlighting BioShock for the Vita.
You'd think that Sony would want a third-party title with as much clout as BioShock on their handheld, especially one that would be made by the original developer (unlike the Resistance game for the Vita). Fingers crossed that this project will come to fruition.
