Not a lot is known about Session, crea-ture Studios’ spiritual successor to EA’s beloved Skate franchise. All we do know is that it is helping bring the skateboarding genre back to PC and Xbox One when it launches later this year. We also know, courtesy of footage taken from Gamescom 2019, that the game will also have a replay feature.

From the crea-ture Studios official Twitter account, we can see Session‘s replay feature in action. Looking at the brief video, at the top of the screen is a timeline that looks like it can hold up to four minutes of footage per replay. It also seems that you will be able to have full control of the camera during replays.

There are zoom in/out, lower/raise, and rotate camera functions that will help you get the perfect shot for your replay. Additionally, there is a free camera function that should allow you to move the camera freely, letting you to capture the specific angle you’re looking for. You can also hide the UI so you can easily take pictures without the HUD getting in your way.
There is also a tag feature you can use. While this function isn’t really shown in the video, this may be similar to how markers worked in Skate‘s replay tool. This allowed players to markers on the replay’s timeline and adjust angles between the markers to make the scene feel more true to a real skate video.
Session will be available for PC via Steam Early Access on September 17, 2019. If you don’t have a PC gaming rig, the skateboarding sim will be available sometime in October for Xbox One via Xbox Game Preview.
Session is not the only skateboarding sim bringing the genre back from the dead. Skater XL by Easy Day Studios will have an Xbox One and Nintendo Switch available sometime in 2020. An early access version of the game is available now through Steam Early Access.
